Obviously, the place to start is at the beginning of the Bible! The very first book of the Bible tells us that God created the world we live on and our sector of the universe – And this was accomplished in Six Days, and then GOD CHOSE TO REST ON THE SEVENTH DAY! God said,  “LET THERE BE LIGHT,” and there was Light, that it was good…  God called the light DAY, and the darkness NIGHT.Moreover, the evening and the morning were the FIRST DAY.On the SECOND DAY, he divided the waters above and below the firmament which God called HEAVEN, then on the THIRD DAY God created the dry land and the seas and planted grass and trees – On the FOURTH DAY God created the sun and the moon… On the FIFTH DAY God brought forth birds and fish – and then God made man and woman on the Sixth Day – And then God Blessed the Seventh Day and He Rested on it! (Genesis 1:3-2:3)

THE SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH HONORS THE CREATOR OF OUR PLANET, our “MOTHER EARTH”! That is why God instituted this weekly event, so wewould REMEMBER and honor THE CREATOR OF MANKIND AND OUR WORLD!

READ EXODUS 20:11 AND 31:17

The SABBATH COMMANDMENT is the FOURTH commandment of the Lord’s TEN COMMANDMENTS – It says, “REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY. SIX DAYS SHALT THOU LABOR, AND DO ALL THY WORK: BUT THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH OF THE LORD THY GOD: IN IT THOU SHALT NOT DO ANY WORK, THOU, NOR THY SON, NOR THY DAUGHTER, THY MANSERVANT, NOR THY MAIDSERVANT, NOR THY CATTLE, NOR THE STRANGER THAT IS WITHIN THY GATES: FOR IN SIX DAYS THE LORD MADE THE HEAVENS AND EARTH, THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IN THEM IS, AND RESTED THE SEVENTH DAY: WHEREFORE THE LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH DAY, AND HALLOWED IT.” EXODUS 20:

God gave to MOSES the TEN COMMANDMENTS… THEY WERE WRITTEN WITH GOD’S OWN HAND! They are the Lord’s ETERNAL and UNCHANGABLE Laws! We are told not to MURDER, not to LIE or STEAL, not to covet our neighbor’s wife or belongings, not to commit ADULTERY or worship graven IMAGES, nor take God’s name in VAIN… We are to honor our PARENTS, worship ONLY GOD… and WORHIP AND REST ON THE SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH! (Exodus 24:12, 31:18, and 32:15,16)

Just WHICH day of the week is THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK? SATURDAY is the seventh day of the week!

Was the weekly Sabbath Day ever intended for ONLY the Jewish people? NO!  First, it was NEVER called “The Jewish Sabbath day,” It was always called “THE SABBATH OF THE LORD THY GOD”!

Jesus said THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN (Mark 2:27), That is, for the RACE, as the word “Man” here is unlimited – hence, the Sabbath is for the GENTILE as well as the JEW!

REMEMBER: The Sabbath was created 2,000 YEARS BEFORE THE JEWS EXISTED!     

The Bible also says that “Woman” was MADE FOR MAN (I Corinthians 11:9)

THEREFORE: If the Sabbath were “Only for the Jews,” then MARRIAGE would only be for the Jews as well!

MARRIAGE and the SABBATH are two holy institutions, which God set up in Eden BEFORE sin came into existence – BOTH WER MADE FOR ALL MANKIND!

God even pronounced a special blessing upon all the GENTILES who keep the Sabbath! Moreover, He said, “ALL PEOPLE, would be welcomed within His house of prayer! (Isaiah 56:6-7)

Ask any Jewish person and they will tell you, without a doubt, that SATURDAY is and

always been THE SABBATH DAY!

Look at the layout of most modern calendars! SATURDAY is STILL the day at the “end” of the week!

Now, does it make any sense that MEN can come along and ALTER GOD’S TEN COMMANDMENTS? The Lord Himself blessed and sanctified the SEVENTH DAY, yet modern Christians IGNORE SATURDAY and worship on SUNDAY instead!

Let’s put it this way: Suppose your DOCTOR officially told you that he’d see you each MONDAY for the rest of your life – would you think it was right to CHANGE THE APPOINTMENT on your OWN ACCORD merely because it was “convenient” with you, WITHOUT EVER RECEIVING YOUR DOCTOR’S APPROVAL! WOULD THIS WORK? NO.

It is the Same Thing here with the “Sabbath” – There are literally Millions of Christians who think that the Sabbath has been legitimately changed from Saturday over to Sunday…BUT HAS IT REALLY?

Here is a profound point: The BIBLE is a collection of 66 separate writings, 66 separate books, and from BEGINNING TO END, from GENESIS to REVELATION, the Holy Scriptures speak CONSTANLY of the importance of God’s HOLY SABBATH! EVERY TIME WE REST UPON THE SEVENTH DAY, AS GOD DID AT CREATION, WE COMMEMORATE THAT GRAND EVENT!

Another profound point: The Seventh-Day Sabbath was commanded by the voice of the Living God! (Deuteronomy 4:12,13) It is the sign of the TRUE GOD, by which we are to know Him from FALSE gods! “I am the Lord your God, walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and hallow my Sabbaths, and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.” (Ezekiel 20:19,20)

Valid point: INSTEAD OF ABOLISHING THE SABBATH, JESUS CAREFULLY TAUGHT HOW IT SHOULD BE OBSERVED!  (Matthew 12: 1-13)

Friday

Luke 23: 52-54

“This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, * and laid in a sepulcher that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.  And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on…” GOOD FRIDAY

Saturday

Luke 23:55-56

“…And the woman also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulcher, and how his body was laid. And they returned and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath according to the commandment.” THE SABBATH

Sunday

Matthew 28:1

“In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher…” EASTER SUNDAY

The “Preparation Day” for the Jews was The Day Before The Sabbath Day. Jesus was crucified and put to death on this day which we now call “Good Friday”… The Sabbath arrived at sundown Friday, and lasted until sundown Saturday – Then on Early Sunday Morning (The first day of the week) it was discovered that the tomb was empty and Jesus had risen! We call this day Easter Sunday… SATURDAY is the Lord’s Sabbath Day!

Part 3

The 1700 Sabbaths

“And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up, and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath Day, and stood up for to read.” Luke 4:16

Jesus lived here among us on our world for approximately 33 years, and this means that he participated in 1,700 7^th-Day Sabbaths! Yes, the 1,700 Saturday Sabbaths one a week for 33 years!

Now, if “Sunday” were supposed to be holy, don’t you think that Jesus Himself would have told us? Think about it! Just because the Jews of two thousand years ago rejected Jesus and were scattered, does this mean that God cancelled His blessing on the 7^th day of Creation! Hardly! Jesus never blessed a single Sunday – He worked on every one of those 1,700 Sundays.” Jesus honored God by keeping 1,700 7^th Day Sabbaths!
