Sabbath
Lesson 17
Marking Code: KS
Marking Color: Blue
Key Text: Exodus 20: 8-10
- Exodus
20:8-10. True Sabbath
keeping includes physical and
well as spiritual rest. We
are to cease all our regular
labor and occupations in
order to enter into
fellowship with God.
- Isaiah
66:22,23. The Sabbath
includes spiritual rest and
fellowship. Sinless Adam and
Eve didnt need physical
rest as much as they needed
to cease from their own
interests and pursuits in
order to spend quality time
with God. This will be one of
the reasons for Sabbath
keeping in the earth made
new.
- Leviticus
23:32. The Sabbath begins
at sunset on Friday and ends
at sunset on Saturday. At
Creation, the evening
preceded the morning of each
day. (Genesis 1:5,8,13).
According to the Bible, each
day begins and ends at
sunset.
- Mark 15:42.
The Bible calls the day
before the Sabbath, the
preparation day.
Friday is the day to prepare
for the Sabbath.
- Isaiah
58:12-14. We are to turn
our feet away from tramping
on Gods holy Sabbath by
engaging in common business
transactions. Rather we are
to make the Sabbath a day of
joy!
Jeremiah 17:21,22.
Bear no burdens on the Sabbath; no
work.
Luke 23:56. Rest on
the Sabbath.
Exodus 34:21.
Dont plow or harvest.
Nehemiah 13: 15-22.
Dont buy or sell anything.
Isaiah 56: 6,7.
Dont pollute the Sabbath.
- Matthew
12:10-12. We can do good
on the Sabbath-this includes
all kinds of activities that
help others and that build
morality, integrity, and
spirituality in us and our
families-that draw us closer
to God and to one another.
