Steps to Christ
Lesson 3
Marking code: SC
Marking Color: Red
Key Text: 1 John 5:13
1. John 5:13. The
Bible says that we can know that
we have eternal life. If we
believe-and continue to believe
in Jesus name-He has promised
that we have eternal life.
2. Ephesians
2:8,9. Can being good save
us? No. We are saved by
Gods grace (unmerited,
undeserved favor) as a gift-not
by our works.
3. Romans
3:10,23. No one is righteous
in himself or herself. Everyone
has sinned and fallen short of
Gods glory. We see why
salvation must be by Gods
grace and not by our works when
we understand what the Bible says
about our sinful human nature.
Romans 7: 21-23.
Evil struggles in our human
nature against the good.
Romans 6:23. The wages of sin is
death.
Romans 5:12. Death has come to
everyone, because everyone sins.
Jeremiah 13:23. We cannot change
our natures by our own efforts.
4. Romans
5:6-10. In spite of our
sinfulness, God loves us and
wants to give us eternal life. In
fact, Christ died for us while we
were still sinners.
5. John 3:16. For
God so loved us so much He gave
His only Son Jesus so that
everyone who believes on Him
should not die, but have
everlasting life.
2 Corinthians
5:21. Jesus became sin for us so
that we might become righteous in
Him.
Isaiah 53:6. God laid on Jesus
the sins of all human beings.
John 14:6. Jesus is the only way
to salvation.
1 Peter 2:24. We are healed by
His stripes. He bore our sins on
the cross.
1 John 5:11. God has given us
eternal life in His Son Jesus
Christ.
Acts 4:12. There is no other name
than Jesus by which we may be
saved.
6. John
1:12. Our part in salvation
is to exercise faith in Jesus as
our Savior.
Ephesians 2:8,9. We are saved by
grace through faith.
1 John 5:12. We have life as long
as we have Jesus.
