Hebrews 8:1
The point of what we are saying is
this: We do have such a high priest,
who sat down at the right hand of the
throne of the Majesty in heaven,
Hebrews 8:2
and who serves in the sanctuary, the true
tabernacle set up by the Lord,
not by man.
Hebrews 8:4
If we were on earth, he would not be
a priest, for there are already men
who offer the gifts prescribed by the
law.
Hebrews 8:5
They serve at a sanctuary that is
a copy and shadow of what is in
heaven. This is why Moses was
warned when he was about to build the
tabernacle: See to it that you
make everything according to the
pattern shown you on the
mountain.
Theres a
profound point here: If we are going
to understand what happens at the
Altar of Incense in Heavens
Temple (Revelation 8:3-5), we
first have to understand what
happened at the Altar of Incense on
Earth because the temple on Earth was
a copy and shadow of the true
temple in Heaven.
Revelation 8:3
Another angel, who had the
golden censer, came and stood at the [true]
altar. He was given much incense to
offer, with the prayers of all the
saints on the golden altar before the
throne. [Incidentally, the Altar of
Incense in the Earthy temple was
located in front of the Table of
Showbread that represented the throne
of God.]
Revelation 8:4
The smoke of the incense, together
with the prayers of the saints,
went up before God [as a sweet aroma]
from the angels hand. [The idea
here is that all of the saints on
Earth are praying
they are
asking God to do something and verse
5 is Gods response to their
prayers.]
Revelation 8:5
Then the angel took the censer,
filled it with fire from the altar,
and hurled it to the earth; and there
came peals of thunder, rumblings,
flashes of lightening and an
earthquake.
Revelation 8:6
Then the seven angels who had the
seven trumpets prepared to sound
them.
Rule One: Examine the
sequence:
1. 7
angels given 7 trumpets [but, they
are told to wait]
2. [Later]
An angel with a censer arrives at the
Altar of Incense and He was given much
incense to burn for this event
3. A sweet
fragrance rises before God together
with the prayers of all the saints
4. Then,
the angel fills the censer with fire
from the Altar and throws it down on
Earth
5. Four
physical phenomena occur
6. The
seven angels prepare to sound their
trumpets
